In short: The Block Striped Peshtemal is a flat-woven Turkish towel made of 100% Turkish cotton and handwoven in Denizli, Turkey. Wide blocks of washed color cross a lightly crinkled surface. It measures 35 x 71 in (90 x 180 cm), comes in 5 colors and is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified.
This is the everyday, all-purpose peshtemal. The block stripes are broad bands woven in with dyed yarn, in muted tones of blue, green, black, red and brown, and the cloth has a light crinkle that gives it a relaxed, lived-in look from the first use. The short edges end in fringe.
Because there are no terry loops, the towel is thin, light and quick to dry. One peshtemal moves easily between jobs: a bath towel at home, a beach towel that sheds sand when you shake it, a light scarf on a cool evening, a picnic cloth or a travel throw that folds into a corner of your bag.

Machine wash cold with similar colors; the woven stripes do not peel, and cold washes keep the washed tones even. Tumble dry low or hang to dry; it dries fast in the sun. Iron on medium if desired.

Is a peshtemal absorbent?Yes. The 100% Turkish cotton takes up water well when you dry off after a bath, a swim or the hammam. It looks thinner than terry, but it dries much faster between uses.
