Bath

Turkish towels grew out of the hammam, the Turkish bathhouse, where a thin cotton peshtemal was the towel, the wrap and the robe. This collection covers the whole routine: towels, bath sheets, robes, peshtemals and dry brushes for the minutes before the shower.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Turkish towel?

A Turkish towel, or peshtemal, is a thin flat-woven cotton towel from the hammam tradition. It is light, dries quickly and folds small. Ours measure 35 × 71 in (90 × 180 cm).

Are Turkish towels absorbent?

Yes. Our towels are woven from long-staple Turkish cotton, which absorbs water well. For a plush feel choose the 600 GSM terry bath sheet; for quick drying choose muslin or a peshtemal.

Muslin, waffle or terry: what is the difference?

Terry has cotton loops and feels thick and plush. Waffle has a honeycomb grid that feels textured and dries faster. Muslin is layered cotton gauze, the lightest of the three.

How do I wash Turkish cotton towels?

Most of our towels: machine wash cold with similar colors, tumble dry low or hang to dry, and skip bleach and fabric softener, which reduces absorbency. Wash the fringed mosaic towel in a mesh bag on a delicate cycle. The terry bath sheet can be washed warm at 104°F (40°C).

Where are these products made?

The towels, robes and peshtemals are handwoven in Denizli, Turkey, from Turkish cotton. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certifies that the product meets the standard's limit values for harmful substances. The dry brushes are made in Türkiye from beech wood and natural bristle.

Every VivaMaison textile is handwoven in Denizli, where weaving has 2,500 years of heritage, by women weavers across three generations.
